Sexually Aggressive Developmentally Delayed Program
The Sexually Aggressive Developmentally Delayed Program (SADD) is for adults who have been given a diagnosis of a developmental disability and who have engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior, regardless of whether or not he was convicted of a sexual offence. The goal of the program is to help clients manage their emotions and behaviors in order to reduce the risk of inappropriate sexual behaviors and to help them avoid involvement with law enforcement. Ideally, this will be mostly accomplished by teaching the client how to engage in healthy sexual behavior and relationships. The program involves mandatory individual therapy, while group therapy and case management services are offered but are based on client need. Services are provided in office, off-site, and in clients’ homes. This program entails a person-in-environment approach where clinicians are strongly encouraged to coordinate regularly via meetings and/or telephone contacts with clients’ service coordinators from the Department of Developmental Disabilities, guardians, family members, supportive living or residential staff, behavior support coordinators, or any other pertinent treatment provider.
Considerations for this program:
Individuals who have engaged in sexually inappropriate behaviors
IQ between 80 and 50 or possesses a developmental disability
Does not have another individual therapist addressing same issues
