MOPS usually accepts approximately four persons each year into our Counselor internship. Counselor interns become part of our staff as part time temporary employees and receive financial compensation for direct service hours. Counselor interns will be supervised by clinicians who are Professional Clinical Counselors with Supervisory Endorsement through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
Typically, counselor interns are expected to be with the agency for at least nine months–usually meeting the requirements for practicum and internship experiences for most universities. Counselor interns will carry a case load of approximately 5 to 15 clients for individual counseling during the internship and will often participate in group treatment experiences with a licensed clinician as a co-therapist. Clinical internships through MOPS often result in full time employment with the agency upon graduation.
Applicants for the counseling internship program must be within ten months of graduating from an accredited Masters Degree program, must pass a background and drug screening, and must evidence the potential to develop exceptional clinical skill.
